The least deserved Academy Award Oscar you can think of ?

When someone or some film got an oscar in favour of some actor or film that you feel got well and truly shafted.

In 2000 in the best female in a lead role category, the simply astonishing Ellen Burstyn gave the performance of a lifetime in the film requiem for a dream. People who saw the film were simply blown away by her performance.

The good old academy however gave the oscar to the wet tea towel Julie Roberts, were people outraged ?.....you better believe they were.

Whats your choice of least deserving oscar ?

i think Kevin Kline got one for Fish Called Wanda, i may be mistaken but that would be my answer.

Nicholas Cage ever winning any oscar at all, but especially as Sean Penn was nominated for Dead Man Walking that year (1996).

Worse, that was the year Mel Gibson won five oscars with Braveheart, including "best" picture and director, and the dull Disney Pocohontas beat Randy Newman's brilliant Toy Story score for best music.

Crash - I couldn't finish this, tries hard but weak ultimately
A Beautiful Mind - aside from Jennifer Connolly hindsight says this has not aged well.

Most award ceremonies are meaingless self-congratulatory backslapping laud an arsehole events. 

I am of course discounting that year I won Best Three-Way Scene at the Adult Video Awards.

I can respect that opinion, he won Best Actor for his role but I maintain that despite his personal performance Forrest Gump was NOT the "Best Picture" that year.

It's all a crock of backslapping luvvie sh*te. I'd have more respect for an awards show voted for by professional film critics. Plenty of assholes with dumb opinions still of course, but I do think that in general they would steer more towards the 'best' rather than all the other Hollywood agendas.

I'll admit it's a stretch, but which would i watch again- Speed or Gump? 
I've watched Gump twice, that was once too many.

I've never watched Gump. Speed... I was forced to watch it. Went round to see some friends, they had it on video. I knew I'd hate it. They bolted the doors and refused to let me out. Halfway through, they wanted to escape as much as I did. On and on it went.

Compared with with Speed 2 it's a masterpiece.

This. Nicolas Cage is pretty much the only actor who if he comes up on the cast on Netflix I pass.

I watched the remake of Wicker man recently. 
Normally I have arguments telling people that acting and directing have improved, and that remakes often exceed the original, but not this time. It was like rubbish 70s TV
