So, as the plane landed y'day from my week in Venice with the folks, my phone went beserk.

One of my very closest mates, client, cricket friend and foe, David 'Grizzly' Adams died after falling down a staircase and banging his head y'day. He was 49.

His younger brother is Chris Adams, England, Derbys and Sussex batsman.

Grizz was the man behind iPro drinks and my big rugby client I posted about earlier this year when I won the contracts off him.

He went on 2 MCC A Tours and was a brilliant left arm spinner who bowled all day and was as tight as a drum- proper league cricketer.

One of the biggest characters ever, huge personality, fun, intellgent, irreverent, blunt Derbyshire man, northern as hell!

Our colleague Richard was with him when he fell and tried to revive him with CPR and so on but no good. He died instantly. RIch is in a terrible place right now.

Grizz was so empowering...he made me create havoc on social media for iPro and encouraged me to be bold and whacky in our press statements

He'd text me "Whilers, get off your fookin' Twitter and get on my fookin twitter and stir Lucozade up 'cos they're cunts!" And I'd laugh and sit there and prepare some edgy tweets and stuff for him.

He and his wife rang me and Ali late one night drunk as skunks last month "I'm sending Laurie round in her PVC with her whip to show your gays what it's really like......" and then fits of giggles from both.

Grizz was in every aspect of my life- cricket, rugby, work and even came to DG last year "Well 'es fooking alright isn't he?' was his considered summary of the night.

I just feel a massive hole in my life and all around feel the same

Here is the northern monkey at England v Scotland this year- only Grizz could get away with that outfit.

I'm not needing sympathy or attention or anything, just wanted to vent and write and that's all...devastated.

He so was. The Harris Garden at Lords will never be the same. You could hear him the other side of the ground during the tests.

MCC is northern to us at Sussex. Luke Wright could probably sink one in the channel on a windy day.

I think Chesterfield represents the border. It has a wonky spire.

I heard literally 5 mins ago there's a suspicion he had a heart attack which caused the fall.

Rich was up all night.

49, jesus. I am sorry for the loss of your friend @Gassage, that is an awful age to go at. Very very young. And thats a cracking outfit. My dad would wear something like that. Would? He does actually.

As for the northern argument, hmm, its a fine line. These lot here in Sheffield (10 miles north of Chezvegas) claim to be northerners, but they do have SOUTH in their county name, so......just saying

The world needs more people like this.

condolences - Living around here I recall his brother playing for Derbys and a fine cricketer (and Derbys don't get to many do they)
