Lynda.com for music theory?

Hello, I really need to start getting to grips with some theory.

Basically, I can read music (incredibly slowly), but play by tab/rocksmith generally. I have tried learning the fretboard a few times, but generally got distracted.
I have no intention of being a professional musician, I just enjoying playing my favourite songs, but would like to do it better, or at least be able to bastardize something by ear. I started reading a few pages on the circle of fifths etc, but it is hard going.
Can anyone recommend a Lynda.com course or similar? I know they have some on guitar, but not sure which would really be appropriate... Any suggestions?
