Was that the Italian one, "Children" wasn't it? If so, lovely electronic music that I think has stood the test of time much more than others around the same time

Yep that's him. He gave himself an English sounding name. Was a child prodigy on piano and classical guitar - built his own studio and made trance and electronic music. He was big in the clubs in the mid 90s.

That's a shock. He was younger than me too.

I've got a couple of his albums, Dreamland and 23am - beautiful music.

Wasn't his at one point called something like sleepy-rave music or something, as it was supposed to be calming the ravers down a bit so they didn't have car crashes on the way home or something?

But yes, truly beautiful electronic music, a loss for sure.

Been described as 'trance' on the news.

Yeah but Seasick Steve calls his Blues music trance doesn't he. I vaguely recall it being a specific stylistic idea because of people dying in car crashes after raves as they were too high or something, so they started making and playing come-down music instead.

In fact just seen this on BBC news, therefore it's probably actually not true:

Chill-out music ... it was designed to bring ravers 'down' before they left a club. You're spot on about the car crashes.
