I don't think they are a terrible design at all, but they certainly lack any originality and I am not sure what makes them modern.

The double cuts would look better if both cutouts were the same i.e. mirrored.

I wish they were better but Gibson just seems to struggle to innovate to me they just look more retro than modern. Not sure the Gibson classic headstock looks right. Cheery sunburst is not the flagship colour. 

Not sure there is anything positive to say other than roll on Black Friday sales.
