I almost shut down yesterday afternoon. Whilst it may not have been entirely due to the weather it wasn't helped by it.

When I veg out in a semi-comatose state I want it to be a deliberate choice, a metaphorical wo fingers to the world at large. I don't want it to be enforced by unpleasant weather.

When you're back working as a professional chef, it's Father's Day, you have over 150 booked in for the day, and you need all three ovens on to cope with the numbers, then you have a right to say that it's a bit hot. Despite drinking 2 litres of water on shift from 10 to 5, I still came back three pounds lighter than I left in the morning.

I was outside gardening yesterday. I was in shorts and a t-shirt, so wet them clothes with a sprinkler and let the water evaporate. It was very pleasent.  :)

    no.

    Happy.

Got a fan on in here, its warm but quite OK. Baking outside.

I've stayed in places in hot climates, with no AC. During the day, you keep the windows and doors shut, and draw the blinds or curtains, keeps the heat out. Then open it all up at night. Thing is, we do the opposite and the houses get roasting.

For doggie owners who find their pooches struggling with the heat, I can recommend the 'dog cool coat' (Google it).  It's a coat that you soak, but the side in contact with the dog is not wet, so it cools using evaporation without wetting the dog.  It's pretty good - Pugsley suffers terribly in the warm weather and he's a chilled out pup with his cool coat on.

(This isn't Pugsley btw - it's a Pugsley tribute act).
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.

That works well when the shutters are on the outside of the glass. I used to work in on office in Madrid, where the blinds were the regular kind on the inside. I guess they reflected some heat, and absorbed quite a bit. The AC was switched off over the weekend, which made for uncomfortable Monday mornings.

An apartment will usually have shutters / blinds on the outside of the glass, which works a treat.

It always amuses me in the UK when I see people opening the doors and windows on hot days.
It is really simple to manage the heat in the house- keep it shut up until the sun passes by and open things up in the late afternoon- keep it open overnight.

I didn't at the weekend, while I was out in the garden alternating between manning the BBQ and running through sprinklers with the kids.

I am today, now I'm back in the office and the AC isn't working.

I don't complain about heat... But might complain about lack of sleep...

Home is triple glazed super insulated walls - so it's never really cold on winter... Does mam that weather like this turns it into an oven.

Mostly I try to be out - went for a walk at 1am last night/this morning. Got back and the heat of my bedroom hit me like a hammer...

I can see me being out a lot today as well :)

I like it, as long as it's sustained enough to adjust to. But when it's hot, then rainy, then hot again I struggle

I'm like Bucket. It's great when you can just lounge by the pool and drink beer. But I've got shit to do, and this weather makes it 15 times harder.

At this point I can't tell if I've pissed myself, or if it's just sweat.

    It was lovely.
