    I can't believe nine people were brave enough to try.  I know I nearly didn't.

    @ChrisRG - 5 points - this sounded to me to be the most well-thought, melodic nicely phrased solo.  By a distance.  No flashiness.  Just really tasteful.
    @Bellycaster - 3 points - totally different approach.  I enjoyed the cascading Robby Krieger-like chord parts.  Nice.
    @Jaytmon - 1 point - I loved the start of this solo - and that's what nudged a couple of others off the scoreboard.  Less so the end, mind...

    @DulcetJones - 5 points - completely mad, and that's why I like it!

    @Bellycaster - 3 points - really inside the sound and note choice. Nice tone, I thought it worked very well with the track and the chords at the end are great.

    @ChrisRG - 1 point - again, great note choice. Nice and melodic and took me on a journey.

    Good to see so many entries again and lots of variation in approach.

    5 points @ChrisRG Well structured melodies that nicely develop through the track.
    3 points @Brad A lovely touch/sound with good picking dynamics
    1 point @Bellycaster The style fitted well with the backing
    It's not a competition.

    5 points @ChrisRG  -  Overall feel came through here.

      3 points @Brad   -  Loved the slightly drawn out melody.

      1 Point
    Stratman3142  -   Great technique.

       Amazing entries here considering how different the backing track was this time!

    I played mine to my brother at the weekend and realised that although it sounded reasonable when played back through Helix/headphones, it sounded fairly shit through anything else! Ah well.
    Anyway:

    5 points @ChrisRG - best overall for me
    3 points @Bellycaster - my favourite tone of the lot
    1 point @stratman3142 - very tricky choice this last one as there were three I liked but this one just pipped it.

    Good to see so many have a crack at this one.

    5 Points @ChrisRG Nice Fat "Hint of Satch" tone :) Very well crafted melodically, suited it perfectly

    3 Points @stratman3142  A few more "Hints of Satch" there with the wonderful sweeps and legato. Very well thought out executed.

    1 Point @Brad  Some great twists and turns there, very fitting licks and did the job of keeping the mysterious feel of the track throughout.

    Well done all round with this one.

    This was a really interesting track (thanks @kin). Part of the challenge was that it is (in my uneducated estimation anyway) all on one chord, which makes maintaining movement and interest tricky.

    5 points
    @jaytmon - good beginning, some great effects
    3 points
    @ChrisRG - atmospheric, well paced and interesting to listen to
    1 point @stratman3142 - very smooth and I liked the delay at the end too

    Honourable mention to @Vaiai, which I liked but the 2 recorded tracks swamped the backing too much.

    What scales did people use? There's some I don't recognise there. I thought it was a C minor but that's about as far as my theoretical knowledge takes me.

    My attempted solo this month was a jazzy chord progression, but it needed more development and I ran out of time. :-(

    @markv - If I recall correctly, I used C Dorian. Not very well, it seems!  :#

    @markv The backing seemed to allow for a few options. I decided to go for C Mixolydian for most of it.

    During my legato bit I shifted a pattern out of key  before pulling it back.

    Right at the end I used a mixture of C Mixolydian and C Dorian (i.e. C Mixolydian with an added b3).
    It's not a competition.

    I most used mostly (if not completely) the Phrygian Dominant mode. I knew the sound I wanted but didn't know the exact mode. Now I know the difference between straight Phrygian and he Dominant version. :)

    5 @Bellycaster ;;

    3 @imalrightjack ;;

    1 @jaytmon ;;

    To answer the scale question, so you know what to avoid, I just chose some notes by ear that seemed to be not too discordant whilst being kinda irritating.
    There are so few notes for most of it that they can fit into probably hundreds of scales, the smallest of which is probably Amin/Cmaj pentatonic.

    Edit, I enjoyed all the entries to be honest.

    Thanks @markv ;
    I agree the extra backing I did was too messy and it was my first one so will stick to a single track next time!
