Soldering iron issues...."S-E" Error code

Evening all,

In January i bought an ATTEN 938D solderin station....approx £60 or so.

Its served me very, very well....until this evening.

The tip does not heat up and the digital screen just says "S-E"

Is this a heating element failure?

Ive used it extensively since January....guess I'll have to invest in a Hakko which I've been meaning to do for ages.

thanks all

Make sure the iron hasn't become unplugged from the base unit

    Google is your friend.

Apparently, "S-E" indicates (temperature) Sensor Error.

Even assuming that the defective part(s) can be serviced or replaced, you will definitely need a second soldering iron or station in order to work on the first one.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Hi yeah I saw that.

I found the problem. One of the heating element wires had come undone from a bad looking solder joint on the circuit board.

Ive fixed it for now somehow...but will need as you say a second soldering iron to fix it more permanently.
