The casino was winning (let's be honest it looks the balls) but based on the fact it's P90s and not a simple swap, I'm back to the gretsch or the Epi 335/Sheraton

You desolder 2 wires having undone two screws per pickup, loosened off the loom, and then send them off for a rewind, followed by reversing for refit - photos in my thread.

The new rewound pickups are absolutely stunning...

That Casino is lovely, and not jumping on the usual Epiphone headstock hate train, but the headstock does let it down, not necessarily the shape, but the low rent truss rod cover and all the excess blank space. Bound headstock with a decent truss rod cover would be lovely.

They don't look too bad in the flesh. I agree that the Epi headstock is a proper eyesore on a Gibson copy, but I'm kinda please they don't do a copy headstock on Epi original stuff like the Casino.

They are quite skinny and look alright when you've got it in your hand.

Headstock looks better on the Sheraton because it has a fancy inlay that uses the space in my opinion.

    We're they? Well that's out then :D

I'm going to see if I can get to Cardiff this weekend and try out a few, choices are the streamliner (I never remember the model as they aren't exactly catchy) the casino coupe and I really like the ibanez as73 but only in black. You watch now I come back with another Les Paul :D

    LOL.

I'm the same with pointy rock guitars.............I can't be trusted.
    My Gretsch is a G2420.
It was £380 as it has no Bigsby.
The same shop sells the same model *with* a Bigsby for £435 so that's the rough price bracket for the model.

The Casino I have no idea about but @Bridgehouse is into them, he might know a good price for them and some particulars about the model.

Ibanez is my thing usually but not the Semi's.........I don't know why I think it's because I've never really wanted a Semi until now and having the Gretsch is enough..............or at least it was until I saw that green Casino!
    LOL.

I can safely say the Gretsch really is a keeper, it's WAY too nice to sell and now that I've bought the hard case and had it all set up like that, it's just such a sweet guitar it would never fall out of favour. The build quality is flawless, I literally can't find a glitch on it anywhere. NOt a flaw in the paint, no join lines out, all the hardware is perfect. I think honestly the one place where I and anyone else would probably upgrade at some point is the pickups and pots/wiring harness but in saying that, they sound bloody great if I plug it in right now so it's not like it's screaming out for it. I do think there are options with the pickups and wiring though but the rest of the hardware won't need changing at all, .......ever.
    Really, seriously well done Gretsch.

    Hope that helps.

    I want a new guitar, now.. :p
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

So what is the deal with casino pickups? From looking around the bridge one is standard, the neck one isn't but is less of an issue if you don't want the chrome covers?

Sort of. The pole spacing is a bit different, and thus the actual size itself is too..

You could try a standard set of P90s but you'd have to hack around with them.
