Rock isn't dead... Yet

Personally I find rnb bland and unexciting and there's very little hip hop that does it for me. (Tribe called quest, String theory and that's about it) but apparently it's new more popular than rock...

  • I'm surprised that this has only happened now. I would have assumed this would have been the case a while ago. 

    That said, "Hip hop and R&B" are surely two separate (admittedly somewhat overlapping) genres? Would the picture be different if the comparison used "Rock and Metal" or "Rock and Pop"?

    No idea how they're defining "rock" - I suspect it's pretty broad and includes the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Meat Loaf - but yes, I'm surprised this hadn't already happened years ago.

    I wonder how similar data would stack up for the UK?
