...  Some guitars just don't quite have every single fret in the right place.
    Ain't that the truth.

The strings are about a week old and sound ever so slightly flat above the 12th. It's most noticable when playing the melody of Galway Girl if that's any kind of reference.

Are you a fretboard strangler? Some people press down so firmly on the strings that they send them sharp.
That would be me.  I'm working at not pressing so hard but getting out of years of habit isn't easy.

I was like that but worked on alternate picking and speed, once I'd got to a reasonable pace, and could hold that pace my fretting naturally became lighter.

Did you try the Jerry Donahue method of tuning?

Compensated barrels and an earvana nut. Problem solved permanently. Ask @FelineGuitars for advice on them.

The Earvana nut is a big deal to me
Pair it with the Gotoh/Wilkinson twist and lock brass saddles and it's great

@FelineGuitars what's the benefit of the twisty saddles?

I may be paying you a visit in the near future!

You can adjust the angle of the saddles for the best intonation.

Which in combination with an Earvana nut is a joy.

We keep these in stock - the saddles on their own or the full bridge (and of course the Earvana nuts)

We also use them on guitars we make

My tele is intonated (as well as I can with three compensated saddles) but some notes on the B still sound out above the 12th fret.

It had a slight fret level recently but no crowning.

Are there any tricks to setting up a tele so the relative intonation is accurate?

Im using the Strobostomp iPhone app.

No guitar will play right with flat top frets.

Have I misunderstood or are they actually flat across the top?
I'm not saying that's the whole problem but i cannot understand why they would have been levelled without being recrowned?
    This.

Yes, i too was wondering about the apparent lack of recrowning?

Well I'm not 100% it wasn't crowned but the tech didn't mention he crowned them and you can see the striations of the levelling beam on the top of the frets.

There are high frets at the 8th,11th and 15th but only very slightly.

    Looks like another job for @FelineGuitars ;

If there are visible scratches on the frets then they haven't been crowned and polished, which makes me wonder whether they have been levelled

I am certain they have been levelled because he told me and it's on the invoice and there is evidence of levelling on the frets...

This reminds me of the line from The Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy about a workman who wiped a couple of Arthur Dent's windows and charged him a fiver.
