Strings may not be a factor, but i always change em asap when getting a new guitar. Although the guitars new, its been halfway around the world and had that new set on from the factory x amount of months ago! 

Im not technically capable, so I always factor in the £45 odd with strings, extra for a pro set up on a new guitar when I'm looking to buy. 

That way if I'm not happy with it, at least I know set up isnt affecting anything, so I can go straight into pup changes etc.

Some nice stuff on the classifieds. A Mesa 25 watt recto will do metal as a best in class amp amd has great cleans and crunch. At similar prices their is a Bognor shiva and a Riviera at half that price. All are so objectively better than an MG it's beyond belief. Plenty of other nice amps in their at very varied prices so I'd start looking their. A Shiva is a serious bit of kit at that price.

Yowch Dude your smacking me £1000+ amps and I can barely afford the amp covers for them. Oooooo a 'Shiva is a serious bit of kit'! Maybe it is if your playing Madison Square Garden next week!  But me.............. I'm in the bedroom for the duration.

Vox AC15 at 300 odd quid and a dirt box probably best on offer l. The 100 Watt Bugera at 250 should be a monster. We're all getting too used to gear porn threads methinks.

Yeah that Bugera in the classifieds is a steal. I would have bought it if I hadn't bought one about 2 hours earlier for £30 more...

Boss Katana 50 or 100, chuck it on the .5 watt for bedroom, turn it up for anywhere else! Loads of features, cheap and among the best in solid state combos or so it seems!
