Hi all,

I did a quick search and I couldn't find anything so far that covers Shishkov guitars - so I though I would stick a post on.

Mike Shishkov makes amazing instruments, and is a lovely bloke. He was one of the key group of Hamer USA craftsmen over the years, and has been out on his own for a few years now.

His first run was limited to 25 "Ultimate" models - which had to be extended to 50 due to demand. During that time he has developed a couple of other styles - a single and double cutaway setneck archtop solid electrics and open to totally unique work for customers.

I would very much like to support and promote his work and business, as he's offering something that has a lot of appeal.

Here is his site: http://www.shishkovguitars.com/

Over at the Hamer Fan Club Forum (HFC) ( http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums)

...we have a section dedicated to what Mikes working on and work in progress (also on facebook and instagram).

http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/forum/10-shishkov-guitars

Pickups are often from Josh Gravlinhttp://www.gravelinpickups.com

I'd encourage you to check him and his work out and enquire about quote if you are in the market for something special.

... oh yeah - he's also Yuriy Shishkovs brother...

Cheers all, and hope you find this interesting!

Ben.

  • I love my Shishkov guitar.  My finest instrument.  In fact I was so nervous about it being couriered over here I decided to fly out and pick it up in person.
Mike Shishkov, and Team Shishkov are amazing people and Mike's skills are out of this world.  I played all of the prototypes in his front room and every one is a winner.  His wood stash alone would get PRS excited.

I thought his name was Yuryi ??
Silly me, I went by the spelling on the fender custom shop builder profiles, foolishly assuming they would spell his name correctly...

    No, just checked.
I think it's two different fellas.

Yuryi Shishkov who works for FCS
and Mike Shishkov who does Shishkov Guitars.....

mind you its not uncommon in guitar land.

Fender, Musicman and G&L all had a guy called Fender working there

Big Hamer fan here , so seeing both Mike Shishkov and Jol Danzig continuing to take the ideas further is great news after Fender snapped up Hamer only to shelve it or put it in the bin.

I hadn't made the connected with his brother somehow being a Fender master builder - duh!
