Using in-ears live without a sound guy?

I've got in-ears that I've never used (band split just after I bought them!) but now I'm in another band, I'll be using them live soon.  My question is - if you don't have a sound guy, how do you know what the mix is like out front if the band is hearing only the monitor mix?

The other band members currently take an aux send off the mixer via a 4-way headphone amp.  As I want more control, my plan is to take that feed into my own mini mixer along with a line-out from my pedal board (I will probably upgrade that to a mic in front of the amp at some point), plus a split feed from my mic via an XLR 'Y' cable.  This way, I have hands-on control over my in-ear balance of my mic, guitar and the other monitor mix.  My concern is that with in-ears in, I don't have any real way of gauging whether my amp is too loud / quiet.

Here is a lovely diagram I've just wasted an hour on :-)

    Simple answer is you don't

When I was using in ears in a band without a sound guy the guitar would sound amazing to me, but after the gig I'd hit a few chords with my ears out and realise it sounded shit out front.
The solution was to use a modeller into the PA so the sound in my ears was the same as the sound out front.

The bigger problem is you can't balance the band very well from the stage normally yet alone if everyone's on ears. You need a sound guy really.
If your gonna go down that route though then set up the band by standing out front of a long guitar lead. Make sure the FOH sound is good then go on ears.
Never gonna be great though !

Wireless or very long lead or a looper ( although this last option will drive everyone mad).
Nice to see from your picture that the diet is going well.

could get an ambient mic out in the audience somehow... and feed that back to our IEMs to check the FOH mix...  Clunky I know, but better than nothing..... which is probably what we'll have when some fucker nicks the mic!

    1. I never thought about my guitar in their IEM mix!  But it's easily solved with another cable from my mini mixer to the main mixer.

    2. I couldn't find icons in the drawing package for bagpipes and a dulcimer.

    3. Chump face?

All of you pool your in-ears, sell them and use the money to pay a sound engineer.

That's probably result in the best sound :-)
    Red ones are better.
