Up fo' grabs, my underemployed E-Mu Audity 2000 MIDI synthesizer rack module.

No outlandish claims about scarcity. No second ROM. No stupid eBay pricing. Just the sort of light scuffing and rack bracket rash that you might expect on gear of this age. The LCD is bright with no missing pixels. The encoder dial operates without skipping intermittently between values. Depending on individual patch assignments, sound emits from all of the jack sockets.

Mains cable and .pdf owner's manual. No original box packaging.

    There are eBay vendors asking over six hundred quid for these. Grab yourself a bargain.

    Typical for a rompler with a 2 line LCD.
    The left hand side encoders make it easier than something like a JV1080.

    Using the rotary encoders to tweak presets is quick. In-depth programming via the front panel is slow. Computer editor/librarian software exists but mostly for IBM-compatible machines. 

    On-line reviews will tell you that the Audity 2000 sounds "tinny". Well, compared to the Orbit 3, it does. The flip side of this is that, when you layer up multiple arpeggiated sounds, they sit together well rather than overpowering a mix.

    Think of the Audity 2000 as a halfway house between the Ultra Proteus/Proteus FX units and the Extreme Lead. It has the advantage of more controls and memory slots but its presets that are not as consistently good as the Xtreme Lead.

    The Audity 2000 has one additional ROM expansion slot. Unfortunately, it runs on a different voltage to the Proteus 2000 expansion ROM sticks.
