I don't know if the comparison helped or hindered my career. People used to tell me I should concentrate on guitar as my voice was too strange. Then he had a hit. I didn't change but suddenly everyone started telling me I was a great singer and asking "Why are you copying Elvis Costello?"

I suppose it could have been worse. Pinky and Perky have had a hit too.
