Yes pretty much. Grip the pick near the tip and learn where to aim for the pitch you want

With the trailing edge of your thumb, you just want to glance the string with the first few layers of skin, not press it.

There are other things in life where you'd flick your thumb off something quickly like that without actually pressing it.

Same technique.

I can pretty much 90ish% of the time. Actually much like a parliamentary intern I get a fair few unwanted pinches. 

I find the the choice of pick affects my hit rate. JazzIII not the xls help a lot but find it harder to hold close to the top with bigger ones.

Boy have I been there.. I feel like harmonics are definitely one of the hardest things to teach, even my one to one instructor struggled with me. My method was to watch every single video I could find on it until someone explained it for me. I can sort of do it now but it's not super pronounced and squeally like I want it. Best advice I was given? There are some techniques like alternate picking that are easy to learn and hard to master, and some that just take months to scratch the surface. Hang in there...
