The Scorpions- Virgin Killer is pretty bad too. Here's the "safe" version.  :o
It makes the Blind Faith cover look like tasteful art by comparison.

That's a terrible album too, apart from Glastonbury Song.

I would nominate Lady Gaga's Born This Way…

Maiden's Dance of Death, supposedly an early version to show the concept but Steve Harris loved it and went with it...

Ha, ha that is crap. Computer graphics can or at least used to date very quickly, bad choice for an album cover.

The story of how the BF album cover came into being has been well documented. Mariora Goschen has stated that she was happy to pose for the photographic session and remains happy about it to this day. Some other people seem to like to get offended on her behalf.

Much depends upon how each viewer chooses to respond to the image. If you consider the image to be either sexual, exploitative or both, that is entirely in your own head.

The thing that most definitely is terrible about the BF album cover is the montage work. The joins are glaringly obvious. By way of comparison, think of the front cover of Ummagumma by Pink Floyd. Another razor blade montage job. You know where the joins must be but they have been so well executed that they are almost undetectable.

My own nomination for terrible album cover design execution is Rush - Hemispheres.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

That is a weak argument that could be thrown at anything offensive. It doesn't mean that it isn't offensive.

True, however, inappropriate and tasteless is the word I'd use about the blind faith cover.
The Scorpions cover goes above and beyond to indecency and offensiveness.

We've all see those terrible album covers from weird american families in the 70s etc, but what album covers from established bands do you think are truly terrible. Agreed. I've been a Clapton fan from the Beano days, but it was only recently that I bought this album. I'd always been put off by the somewhat disturbing/creepy nature of this image.
Same here. I bought a copy on CD recently - it was displayed openly in HMV, which really surprised me. The case insert has the alternative American cover on the inside, so I've simply folded it the other way. I'm no prude, but I've always found the original cover unsettling and I'm quite surprised it's even legal now, historic context or not.
Hadn’t realised about the alternative US of A cover on the inside.Just flipped mine the other around now. Good spot.
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

I promise I'm not having a dig - I'm genuinely curious as to why you wouldn't buy it if you're prepared to do an image search for it and post it on a forum. The cover is reversible as far as I can remember (CD version) so, if you like the album, you could have the alternative or just bin it. I agree it's in very bad taste.

I'll nominate the British cover of Electric Ladyland. All adults, but it still seemed very tacky and the manipulation of the image to slightly distort the women made it worse. Hendrix hated it apparently.
