Daytonas are pretty rare and expensive even when new. 

This is THE Daytona from what I understand. So would always be desirable to a collector. 

It's like the Hendrix Woodstock Strat coming up for sale.

In watch circles this is one of the single most important watches ever made. It was lost for a long time, which gave it the mythical status that elevated the price to this level. It’s the equivalent of Clapton’s original burst coming up for sale.

It’s also a lovely watch - far nicer than anything Rolex puts the Daytona name on today

I know it's the most important vintage Rolex out there, it's just that the reserve price was set at $1m. Ended up going for 15m plus buyers fees.
