Do I sell or keep?

What's Hot

I've got a rather nice Korean Epiphone Dot that I used to love but that has been somewhat unused since I bought myself my Gretsch Country Gent. I upgraded it a few years ago with some of Oil City's lovely pickups and a Shugz loom but I'm simply not playing it.

The dilemma comes from from the fact that, even with the new electrics, it's probably not worth a great deal and that makes me wonder whether it's even worth trying to sell. Just feels like it deserves more than sitting in its case under the bed.

Any thoughts anyone?

sell on the pickups and other bits separate if you can
The Bigsby was the first successful design of what is now called a whammy bar or tremolo arm, although vibrato is the technically correct term for the musical effect it produces. In standard usage, tremolo is a rapid fluctuation of the volume of a note, while vibrato is a fluctuation in pitch. The origin of this nonstandard usage of the term by electric guitarists is attributed to Leo Fender, who also used the term “vibrato” to refer to what is really a tremolo effect.

I have thought about that but it was such a massive ball ache to fit them in the first place that I simply can't bring myself to do it. That's also a bit of the reason I'm reluctant to sell; because of the effort that went into fitting the upgrades

Yeah - try it on here. If you're not using it, get rid. You could use that money for some decent pedals, or towards an amp, or....

get rid. on financial and moral grounds.

    a) it is clearly clutter if you are not using it. may as well recycle the funds for something you need and will get more from. increase your learning curve or explore new territory. good for the spirit.

    b) as a musician, you should have a natural moral aversion to seeing decent instruments laying idle (wasted). even if it isn't worth a fortune to you, to someone else it may be the best guitar they have for a good part of their musical life. they will grow with it, and love and appreciate it, in a way all good instruments should be.

get it back into circulation. the next bernard butler needs it!

Unless you actually need it as a backup for your Gretsch for gigs, sell it. Give someone else the benefit of the nice pickups.

That's fairly conclusive then. Fair points all

Looks like I need to sort an advert over the weekend then.

    Cheers

Now just got to figure out how much to advertise for.

At least people here will appreciate the guitar and of course the value of the upgrades!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

Pedals will be useless with an acoustic banjo..

This sounds like it could've been a track on a later CLASH album...
