Nice feature this month in Guitarist of 100 tips on playing, setup, theory, gear etc - any little tips that help you improve. I'm sure most of them are recycled but nontheless all useful.
On the back of reading the first 20 over breakfast I just sat down for 20 minutes with a metronome and played through the D Major scale purely thinking about timing and dynamics. Digging in on the chord tones - Root, 3 and 5 of the scale - with a bit of vibrato, and lighter picking on the 2, 4, 6 and 7 makes a HUGE difference. It aslo helps to memorise the chord tones and arpeggios.
Cracking tip. Feel guilty I've just cancelled my subscription!
