still looking, its a forlorn and fruitless hunt so far 

updated heading as well, never really got into the whole soldering and swapping pickups, and what i currently have i like so no need to play about with them, so ideally something cheapish with Humbuckers, Vintage v100, Epi Les Paul etc etc

Why de-bling? That's the tongue -in -cheek fun of it

Weight reduction, as that scratchplate weighs about the same as my house! Agreed on the quality though, as they are fantastic. My one looks way more traditional now, but whenever I think about shifting it for something 'better', I always come back to the thought that it's not worth it, as it really is a great guitar.

Why don't you get a cheap squire tele and put humbuckers in with with a bit of routing and new bridge assembly plate..
