The Orange united biscuit was godly.

American biscuits are essentially scones where they forgot to add flavour.

  • I find the lack of custard creams in this thread disturbing. Its a shame that you can only get own brand ones nowadays.

This trend for "thins" is also something that should be halted, a piss poor excuse for a biscuit.

I'm of the opinion that "thins" are just a marketing wheeze to convince us to buy a cut price product at a full price.

I'm not locked in here with you, you are locked in here with me.

Agreed, you wouldnt go into your local kebab shop and order a "doner thin" or McDonalds and order a "thin Mac".
We're talking about an accompaniment to the greatest drink in the world Bourbon tea, its got to be the full size as god intended biscuit or YOU'LL BURN IN HELL!!!!

Where do you stand on the “biscuit” that is thin in more than one dimension ie the abomination that is the Mikado?

(although the Dime based ones are a bit moreish)

The answer: Ginger nuts, of course.

Almost dunked StroopKoeken - (was shown this by a Dutch person) - put said StroopKoeken on top of a cup of coffee for a minute or two, centre goes gooey and outside remains crispy. This is THE way to eat them apparently.

Aware as I am that biscuits are a topic of significant interest to many tFBers, I would like to offer my latest thoughts on the subject.

    1. McVities Digestive Thins are excellent - both the milk and dark chocolate.
    2. If you find yourself in the Netherlands, see if you can pick up some StroopKoeken. Two very short biscuits stuck together with buttery syrup. Just a hint of cinnamon to the assemblage.
Feel free to add your own thoughts on any recent developments in the arena.
You can buy them in Sainsburys.

Any McVities biscuits are too sweet. Aldi’s alternatives are far better - their dark chocolate digestives are superb.

The dream combo for me (and a couple of old workmates) is a dark chocolate Bahlsen Choco Leibnitz (or Aldi alternative) and a lemon puff (they used to be quite cheap, but seem to be rather expensive these days).

Don’t knock it ‘til you’ve tried it!

Nonsense. The digestive thin is a thing of wonder.

  • Just to reiterate that there may be some confusion on here between the stroopwafel and the stroopkoeken. The wafel is the one more commonly available and in many U.K. shops, the koeken is the thicker more usually home baked version ( because you don’t need a specialist wafel iron).

Yes, one holiday in the Netherlands and I do know it all, I thank you.

Indeed. I am certainly a fan of the stroopwafel, but the stroopkoeken is even better.

I couldn't get McVitie's digestives at Sainsbury's last week so I got a packet of own-brand ones instead.

Should have had a public health warning on the packet. A good, fresh digestive is a thing of wonder and beauty. The contents of that packet were repulsive.

    Two surprisingly good biscuits :

    Sainsbury’s chocolate digestives

Lidl hazelnut chocolate chunky cookies, - the chocolate is gooey inside the cookie.

homemade digestive's are very nice, and surprisingly easy to make. Obviously, they won't keep, so it's important to pig the lot in one day.
