advice needed - firewire content

I bought a MOTU  828 mk 2 off of ebay. It arrived today but the seller didn't include a firewire cable. I need to connect it to the thunderbolt 2 port on my Macbook Pro - I realise I will need to buy a stupidly expensive firewire to thunderbolt adaptor from Apple, but what cable do I need? I am unfortunately somewhat confused by the different varieties available.

You will need two things.

1. As you mentioned the TB2 to Firewire (800) adapter.
2. A Firewire 800 to 400 cable.

I use a Belkin dock with a Firewire port. I use it with both my older MBP (direct to TB2 port) and my newer work MBP (via TB3 -> TB2 adapter).
