OLD BUT GOLD

What's Hot
DominicDominic Frets: 16013
Not just talkin' about me..........
Every week there is a new kid on the block pedal or effect wise and some are unique, some are all hype and some are great but essentially no more than the Emperors new Clothes aka another decent Tube Screamer in a prettier box with an extra switch.
They become the "must have"du jour ,are easy to sell on and get 80% of your money back then suddenly the Heat is off and everybody has moved on to something new........price and demand crashes etc etc.
What are the Real old but Gold standards........? Obviously the Klon but again it's reputation speaks more than the pedal itself.
I'm talking about less exotic stuff and not necessarily Vintage.
Example.........I had forgotten how good a Tim sounds until I played one the other day.
What's your Old but Gold ?

Distortion+ and variations. Even the mighty EQD Gray Channel doesn't cop the feel of my old block d+

    ^This, in spades.

Hadn't owned a D+ in years (until very recently, as per my post earlier this week).

I'd totally forgotten how brilliant they sounded.

    Boss HM-2.

Prices of these - and a few other not even Japanese, including the FZ-2 and PN-2 - Boss pedals are rising rapidly.

The HM-2 is the sound of a whole sub-genre of music, and an undeniable classic.

Old but gold from the H7 camp...

    • Block MXR D+ - How stupid I've been to not own one for over 10 years...
    • Original Marshall Guv'nor - I've had this since they were first on the market.
    • Boss VB-2 - One of my all-time favourite pedals, along with...
    • EHX BB DMM - I never get bored of this, ever.
    • Amdek PH-100 Phaser - Another long-term job. Bit of a sleeper - great thick, chewy Phaser noises.
    • Zoom 5000 Driver - Can sound fizzy if not EQ'd well, but fannying around with it reaps dividends.
    • Boss CE-2 - I've had this forever. Will never sell it.
    • Shin-Ei Companion - It's vile, but it does vile superlatively.
    • Nomad Axxeman - Instant '80's, in a rack enclosure. I must own 10 of these, love them.

Another D+ lover here. Probably going to end up having a D+ on my board to go alongside the EQD Grey Channel I also have!

Other classics/older pedals that are still great:

    Boss RE-20
    Boss DD series
    Boss CE-2
    EQD Hoof
    EHX DMM
    MXR Phase 90

Ain't that the truth. I bought last year for 90, sold for 100, now they're going for 160+

Pretty much the only pedal that's stayed on my board has been the DM-2.

I absolutely love my Ibanez ad202 delay, but it's rack mount. The closest pedal would be a Maxon AD9 - so I'll go for that.

    Ibanez OT10 octave pedal.
I have 4 of them now, mostly to keep two of them working on  my two main boards.
    They are impressively glitchy boxes.
