PSA: Lesson learned. Don't put plastic cases in a damp basement.

I thought I was being sensible when I put all of the wooden guitar cases up in the loft but the plastic ones in the slightly damp basement.
Alas, upon removing the plastic SKB cases from the basement I have found a serious amount of case fungus growing in 4 of the 6 that were down there.

£300 later and I have replacements winging their way to me.

Definitely not.
The latches had rusted to nothing and the smell of mould was offensively strong.
Like a dead body.

Looks like you have too many guitars and should spend some money making the basement damp proof before the foundations collapse .

It sounds worse that it is- the house is 350 years old- if it was going to fall down then it would have already.

I went to Smyth's toys yesterday with my 6 year old.

The face painting lady had all her gear laid out in a rectangular SKB case, with the padding ripped out.
