5e3 noisy when channels are jumpered

got my first deluxe today, sounds great but when i "jump" channels there is quite a bit of noise  any thoughts?

    yes, thoroughly clean the amp's jack sockets inside and the plugs on the jumper leads. Also, ensure the cables are top quality and not have damaged screening.

    This is a common issue of the 5e3 design if the amp has stood around unused for a while - even indoor environment.

    Use a high quality jumper cable, as short a cable as possible.

    Try not jumpering  just turn up the other channel volume.....might be enough.

    You do know that the volumes on the two channels are interactive? And that the tone control past about 6 on the dial has less and less impact until at 10 it has no effect on either channel?
