How does that twit Ted Nugrunt get a LOUD relatively squeal free tone at volume from his geetar?

Can a 175 type really get up loud and in yer face at stage volume with no awful  feedback?

tae be or not tae be

In the early 80s I used to gig a Hofner President (similar design concept) with a pair of DiMarzio Super Distortions crammed in ... and a Marshall 100w head and two 4x12s behind me. You need to ride the volume control all the time ... and watch your position on stage, but it's perfectly possible.

What isn't possible is finding anything sensible that's come out of Ted's mouth for many years. His gun lobby fanaticism is supremely distasteful.

Nothing to add to the discussion other than the following:

    Ted Nugent is an arsehole.

    As you were.

What do you think would be the closest Gibson model to this guitar?

Is that to stop the guitar feeding back or to stop Ted from talking?

    Haha that depends!

If a guitar -> stuff its F holes.
If Ted -> stuff A hole to stop him talking out of it.. lol

More likely unpotted pickups than needing towels stuffed then I reckon.

    This ... all the way.

And by the way, I used to adore Nugent's playing ... but just the sight of the shambling cock-nugget gets me riled up these days.

I read it in one of the guitar mags several years ago,  I don't know which one now.

It's quite simple, stop playing in pubs and just play stadium gigs instead, then you can stand further from your amplifier.

I used to think the Ted Nugent persona was all an act, as he clearly had a pretty sharp wit and a sense of humour... but he sadly seems to have grown more and more into that persona over the years.  As you say, even the sight of his face, with that permanent nasty grin, gives me a sinking feeling nowadays.  I don't like anything he represents.

I still think his first few albums, and Damn Yankees for that matter, are great though.  And I do still listen to them.

Used to stuff my big-body Gretsches to block the f-holes to stand maxed amps and fuzz, worked great. Sounded the same clean, feedback was well controlled - just turn round a bit when you want it.

I love my wide body Hofner feeding back in hi vol and gain scenarios as it is ride-able and sounds massive! - just like Billy Duffy's White Falcon
