I kept it green for 20 years, but the opportunity to use it for respray practice for a greened goldtop was too big a draw.

I’ve not seen the Epiphone but I imagine it is influenced by the Gibson Slash Anaconda burst.

A strange coincidence: I picked up a Tele body with green burst earlier this year, quite a strong emerald to black burst, decided I couldn’t live with it so asked Rexter to respray the front  -   Gold.

    Gordon Bennett.

Somebody needs to make up his or her mind. Either sunburst - reassuringly conventional, if dull - or the opaque green. (Two-tone à la Brian Jones Gretsch 6118 would be nice.) Not both.

How can they get away with Rosewood fretboards?

Totally with you. Sunburst - I’m an odd fish - I like them a lot.

Opaque green - yeah, a rub on stain green would be ok.

    Both? Puke tastic

  • They did a limited run of Epiphone Slash Anacondas last year...they were over a grand. For an epi!

Yeah, I am sure the revisit of the colour is a slash thing

The mid-late 90’s version was well before that though.  They did a load of primary colour bursts and sparkle finishes at the time.

Hang on a minute.  When Gibson released the 2017 LP Classic in green, everyone was very sniffy about it; now we all love green.  WTF?

Can’t be a burst unless it, er, bursts from one colour to another (or more)

Yeah, I did consider that, and I suppose it is a burst of sorts - but a traditional burst usually has some sort of different colour combo in there. Hence why I find a “green burst” unpleasant - just a green of different shades is dfferent

Some are done black on the edge, but I think that looks worse

look at how many of Gibson’s bursts rely on the same colour palette, for the faded look of an actual “unburst”

I don’t disagree at all. I guess it’s the idea of green fading to any other colour that doesn’t do it for me ;)
