A level results day

What's Hot
As the title says, offspring no 1's results are out today.

She's been nervous about this as she thought she'd bollocksed some exams.

I am sat here grumpily as I've been dragged out of bed, only to find her uni has just (7:30 ish) texted her to say she's been accepted.

So why am I awake?

My daughter got into her Uni of choice after a very hard 3 year slog (had to repeat a year due to health reasons)

This time last year we learned that my youngest had completely stuffed up the first year of his A levels. So this year waiting to see how the first year of his new course has gone.

MrsTheWeary taken the opportunity to say to me ' you never had this worry did you' as her annual dig at my lack of any A levels.

Personally I think A levels are crap as they only really cater to those who can swat for an exam and don't get overly nervous.
I did my education in Germany which had (30 years ago) a mainly continuous assessment system.
But well done all those kids who have achieve what they wanted. And those who didn't, it's not the end of the world there are lots of other avenues to success.

My lad decided to drop out of doing A levels and went with a FE course instead, UCAS have just confirmed his place studying for a degree in Audio and Music Technology in Nottingham after passing the former. Pleased as punch for him!

    Well done!

I wish I could go back with the knowledge I have now.

I never got further than gcse, but I remember results day.. ish.

Think I turned up at some point in the day with me mates, not really wanting to know the results, or come home after!
The only easy day, was yesterday...

I got my A levels in 1986 with a B and an E and two other grades which were so bad they didn't even count. The B was in General Studies. I really was a lazy little git.

I scraped through my gcse's with the bare minimum after no revision or effort.  Abandoned my A level studies half way through 2nd year to my school of life philosophy, turned up to one of my exams, business studies got a D.

Since I started face book things  have looked up.  Not really, hasn't done me any harm but could have done a lot more had I taken it seriously at the time.

My dad sat me down and said to me in all seriousness I wouldn't survive uni the way I was going.  Got a job instead!
