Are they any good, or a total waste of time and effort?

I used them back in the late 50's when I  played a semiacoustic bass, but stopped when I got my first P bass, when I switch to tortoiseshell picks, eventually stop using picks all together switch the fingers.

Your life will improve when you realise it’s better to be alone than chase people who do not really care about you. Saying YES to happiness means learning to say NO to things and people that stress you out.

they aren't they're made of the same type of wood pulp/cellulose, the same kind used for strat pickup bobbins. I mention them as an alternative to hard felt picks.

They're sold for ukeleles and I guess they are the same thing. Not sure I've ever seen anyone use them though.

I’ve got a couple I found in an old case at some point... I’ve never tried them. I imagine they’d last about ten seconds with the way I play.

  • I tried one. Didn't like it.

For me it felt better to put foam under the strings and use a "normal" pick. The sound isn't quite the same but it was close enough and a lot more pleasant to play.

A-ha! That other thread about fretless bass guitar was a smokescreen. The OP is getting a bass ukulele. :)
