Made some progress on the jnr today...

The router is still out of action but managed to get the neck pocket cut and the pickup hole done using a Forstner bit, a chisel and some hard work!!!!!!

Will make a start on the neck next week using a sharpened spoon to carve!

Makes me wonder why I wasted so many hours researching routers online when I had a chisel all along... Nice work!

I was going to call BS on the chisel claim as it did look very “routed” but bailed for fear of causing massive offence !

Would take a lot more to offend tbh :)

the amount of time it took to set the router up it probably would have been quicker to use a chisel tho’ :) but, it’s a lovely neck pocket, will be a shame to glue the neck in!!!!!

Thanks for clarifying I was seriously trying to contemplate how sharp a chisel needed to be!
You are making me want to build a jnr, this is awesome. Is there a word for wanting to make GAS? Maybe Instrument Building Syndrome? Is IBS a result of GAS or GAS a result of IBS?

IBS is a different syndrome. Its symptoms include buying components thinking “that will be useful for a future build”. Ask me how many neck blanks I’ve got, and how many bodies I could cut from my cedar tree.

It’s nice to see people make stuff rather than take the easy option and buy it. Keep up the good work, and the photos.
