Stretching the idea of a "kit" by sourcing my own parts to form a "kit", I have an unpainted copy of Thinline Tele Custom body, I have a Squier Strat neck, a Bigsby, several pickups and other assorted junk.

This will be fun seeing what transpires....it needs to ge a bit different to the norm....

Neck, someone has put the headstock on the wrong way up and the heel end of the neck is the wrong shape, I can fix one of these issues!.....

Trem, was going to hack the pickup casting off the proper Bigsby, but then remembered I have a copy, which is made of something heavier than a small planet, so, good job its a Thinline...
I have the arms etc somewhere

Bugger, 01:48, just wole up and realised a Standard Tele bridge wont work with this body as its routed for Humbuckers......back to the drawing board (or the loft, to see what alternative body I have keeping the spiders company) (best do that later for fear of the wrath of the pink one)....Bugger!

Don’t use a tele bridge at all... get the proper bigsby b5 bridge... or... use an LP style bridge...abr1 etc...

Hauled myself into the attic and found a TeleMaster body that needs some love, Trem should work, the new roller bridge should work, I'll need to refinish it and the headstock, roller string tree, make anew scratchplate, nice to recycle the Mojo Lap Steel pickup at the neck, not sure what  to put in the bridge position, I might have a Creamery Tele size P90 in the parts cupboard, we'll see.....control plate will need to be a not reliced one, I think it needs to ge a nice bright colour, so will ponder on that.......best put it all away until next month.....

Might be just me but that lapsteel pickup looks way too wide for the neck position?

Only a few guitar bodies in the Attic Andy, mostly early failed projects or stuff Ive bought on a whim, however the back bedroom has a shelved wardrobe with all sorts of bits and pieces of left over bits, pickups Ive tried and not liked or just again bought on a whim....sometimes a scratchplate or a pickup inspires a build, mixing and matching parts until Im happy, if its rubbish it can all come apart again for another go later....

Just had a measure and compared to a Creamery Tele size P90 neck pickup which measures 54mm between pole centres the Lap pickup is 55.5mm so not much in it, I doubt it would be a huge issue.....however nothing is set in stone!...

At last it's October 1st and I can make a start on "Abomination", I did some thinking, which led to a headache and an order for a custom guitar body for the challenge....

Why "Abomination"? you'll see later when it arrives, hopefully in a couple of days, it takes Tele hardware but with a neck P90......most people will hate it....probably...
Colour is settled too, I'll paint the headstock today, so I'll post photos later.....
    Hardware "kit" is
Brandoni Left hand Tele neck, which Ive had for at least 15 years on various bitsas
    Locking tuners
    Butterfly string tree
    Custom body
    GFS Tele roller bridge
    Modified Bigsby
    Towner Down string tension bar
Creamery Tele size P90 bridge pickup
Mojo Soapbar P90 at the neck
The Lap Steel pickup may feature
    Tele control plate

In other news the Bigsby huge ghastly casting met with a hacksaw in the shed of dreams and suffered weight loss.......theres another mounting point drilled in the centre of the spring seat....

Trem arm pivot point bolt was FUBAR so got drilled out and and Stainless Allen bolt now does the job, with a Nylock nut on the back......

We now need something to give a bit of break angle over the bridge saddles, so I bought a Towner Down Bar, which fits onto USA Gibson stop tail studs, I dont have any so cranked the old lathe up, after evicting spiders and turned up a couple of posts, seen here being tested on a bit o kindling, should work ok, they need a quick spin in the lathe to polish them up a bit, might need a slight reduction in height, we'll see when I mock up the body...when it arrives......

Nice. Metal working skills/equipment will have to go on the end of my acquisition list.

It would be great to be able to knock up some bits as needed like you've done here.

    Nice one!
