Chas Hodges (half of Chas n Dave) RIP

What's Hot
And another legendary part of the British music scene back in the 70' and 80's. Good old fashioned rock n roll.

Very talented guy.  Love them or loathe them,  they had a distinctive sound and a huge following of devoted fans.  Their songs were such that you wouldn't switch channels if you heard them on the radio, you'd listen to the end and no doubt your foot would be tapping and you'd be singing along. RIP a great entertainer.

  • This saddens an old Tottenham fan.

Part of a great rhythm section with an impressive cv before their chart hits as a duo.

Really good musician(s) once you get past the geezers-in-the-pub persona.

I saw Chas 'n' Dave supporting Led Zeppelin some years ago.

"Working" software has only unobserved bugs. (Parroty Error: Pieces of Nine! Pieces of Nine!)

    Knebworth? Me too..

    Sad loss..!
so if you fancy a reissue of a guitar they never made in a colour they never used then it probably isn't too overpriced.

To be honest I liked Chas 'n' Dave more as personalities than for their music, but they were part of British music history and I was always fascinated by their links back to Joe Meek (and young Ritchie Blackmore).  RIP.  :(

I got home from visiting my dad in hospital today and the first thing I heard when I put on the radio was Nik Hodges talking about his dad's death.  A very nice man with lots of good things to say about his father.  I'm honestly not sure if it made me feel better or worse.

Very sad news.  I hadn't known he was in Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers, always thought their version of "Got To Get You Into My Life" was the best!

I have a friend who works for a hospice group. When one of their friends was admitted the two were frequent visitors, but they didn't reduce their visits after their friend sadly passed away. They may have  looked a bit rough around the edges at times, but as people and musicians they were the tops.

Only just found out - Very sad news - A good honest pro who enjoyed his work without needing to be a 'Star' - Saw Dave on his own a few years ago for a Fender Custom Shop dealer day out/jolly - Very entertaining - Told as many stories about him, his life and who he has worked with, as much as playing a few tunes - Very talented guys
