I wanted to share my latest GAS attack with you, a 1956 Gibson Les Paul TV Model!

One of only 511 made in '56 so quite a rare bird! Firmly player grade and it's been played every one of it's 62 years....and you can feel and hear why...KILLER! This one resonates so much, it'll give you RSI! Without doubt, the best single cut i've had through my hands so far!

My '50's Gibson passion is usually that of the archtop variety, but that's fabulous! Happy NGD!

    Beautiful, congrats :)

Have to ask, what's the story with moving the tailpiece?  Looks like it was moved a lot, how's the intonation?

Intonation is spot on now. You see it quite a bit around this period for some reason and particularly with the TV Special models too. It's either the bass or treble side that has been moved. Essentially all they used to use was a long 'T' shaped bar that sat at the nut and spaced out approximately where the bridge holes should be drilled so, I think it depended on who was doing the measuring and drilling on that particular day. There is evidence of a filled screw hole just below it too so there's every possibility it's had a different tailpiece at some point too.

Chaps, you may have got second and third dibs, but I believe (and hope) that you’ve been beaten to the punch for first dibs!  ;)

Not that Neil will be selling this one, I suspect...

Nice but the string alignment looks well shagged.

Beautiful! And I’d say that’s where you want the bridge to be, relative to the rear pickup. Some of them are too close. Congratulations.

"Well Shagged"....that a technical term, is it?? :)

For what it's worth, you're right, the bridge is sitting slightly toward the bass side of the posts, next string change it'll go back and be perfectly into alinement or 'Non-Shagged' for the layman... ;)

First off that’s a really nice guitar, I love LPand SG Juniors. The moved bridge doesn’t surprise me, you even have to do it on some of the old copies. I’ve got an old Arbiter double cut LP Junior copy and the bridge has been moved back on the bass side in order to correct the intonation , somebody just drilled a new post hole and covered up the old hole with a truss rod cover.
