Neck. it's to with a PAF style bridge humbucker, so a low output one if possible.

Er, is the pickup cavity on your guitar narrow enough to give the Firebird pickup surround screws something to bite into?

If not, allow me to recommend the Oil City Pickups Winterizer II.

There is no rout at the moment, so a standard sized one will be fine.

The Gibson reissue ones are fairly hot I believe; 15/16k or something like that?

The modern pickups are very hot.
I swapped mine out for a set of the following vintage correct version form this chap:

He advertises them in pairs but it might be worth seeing if he'll sell you just one.
I'm very pleased with mine, very cutting in that classic bluesy Firebird way.

I have a Creamery HB sized one that I will be removing from a guitar this weekend. I know you said you didn't want a HB sized one but as nothing has turned up I thought i'd mention it.
