    Looking forward to trying it out. The Alnico combination and the tapped coils idea work so well in the Wapping Wharf that I’d like to try them in neck position too.

  • How would the wapping compare to a fender broadcaster that is in the 50s Baja?

    The Wapping is a hybrid ,,, as in it's got the Broadcaster top end ... but the bass grunt of later Tele pickups ... and that's just in the standard output mode ... you get 15k of added mids and growl when you bring in those extra windings. This particular one has some top sparkle added too. it's a bit of a monster when compared to a standard Tele pickup.

    Ok thanks wasn't aware it's a hybrid. In terms of wiring could it be wired to a position on a four way switch of does it require an independent switch?

    @TheGuitarWeasel Cancel the photography. :)

    In terms of wiring, could it be wired to a position on a four way switch of does it require an independent switch?
    Either of these approaches would work.

    Given the considerable difference in the two output level modes, I would be inclined to retain the CRL three-way selector switch. Connect the Double-X low output conductor to the selector switch as normal. Connect the high output conductor to a DPDT on/on switch or a push-pull pot configured to also select between the signals from the selector switch and the full output Double-X pickup, respectively.

    On a four-way selector switch, the positions would be; Neck Only, Neck + low output Bridge, low output Bridge Only, high output bridge only.
