Synth choice

I’m treating myself to my first synth in nearly 20 years. I’ve decided to beer away from vintage as the synths available right now are just stellar. I’m looking to create dark, moody sonic landscapes that I can fuse with some jazzy blues and take me out of my comfort zone. 

Contenders are -

Moog Subsequent 37

Matrix Brute

Prologue 16

Also very tempted by the Deckards Dream although I don’t own a keyboard remote at present. 

The Brute owns the top spot but I change my mind several times a day. I loath menu diving and prefer ‘hands on’ real-time tweaking. 

Any advice folks?

Prologue is quite different to your other 2 options I'd have said. Poly or mono, is a modulation matrix important to you or not are a couple of considerations. Rev2 should be on your list to consider too I think.

I’d kill for a Deckards myself, but 3.5k. 

Surprised you’ve not got a Rev2 on your list also. That would be my choice over all the above.

You’re both correct, the Rev 2 was a careless omission. A matrix is preferable. Prefer Poly to Mono but I’m open to persuasion.

Rev2 it is then on that basis, or maybe novatiin peak + a midi controller?

I have the Sub 37, Mateix Brute and Prophet Rev 2.
If you can live with a mono synth then the Matrixbrute is the most flexible and best sounding.
If you need polyphony then the Rev 2.

That’s good to know. I’ll inevitably fall down the synth rabbit hole but I don’t really want to buy something now only to move it in 12 months time, hence my purchase dithering.

I looked at all 3, and the rev 2.  Ended up with a peak.  That said I didn't need a keyboard, as I have an fa07 to drive it.

If you need a keyboard, rev 2 hands down.

Indeed I am, but I have splinters i my ar5e from sitting on the fence on it. And it's a pre-ordering, slow-building situation, which makes me lack the necessary commitment. Not tax deductible for me, so at that figure I'd really want to try one out first, but the chances of that happening are about zero. :-/
