My initial enthusiasm has been dimmed slightly by the announcement of the short scale Stingray. I’m sure they’ll be in an entirely different pricing tier though.
    Facebook posts suggest £2000 ish

I'm tempted by a red one as my first bass. Are they active pickups? It needs a battery but the specs describe the pickups as passive. Does it really matter if they are active or passive if just using it for home recording use?

Passive pickups, active EQ. Very common on bass.

    Normal ones are £2200 now.

I love their basses, but that is getting silly.

Yeah I know... it’s inline with similar quality instruments I guess.

Having said that I paid £600 for my 2001 blue dawn... bargain!

    I got a 5 string for £695 once!

Bought one yesterday (in Sea Foam Pearl Green).  Pretty pleased with it.

So easy to play after a 34" scale.  Tried it against a Mustang in the shop.  The strings are not as flappy as the 30" scale.

The sound is good overall.  It's my first bass with active eq.  Once you tame the treble on the amp it does sound good though.  I do have access to a Squier P Bass if I do want that sound for recording, and this will be much easier to play live.

Glad to hear you like it. Mine should be here at the start of next week. Any photos?

IMO, the Aqua Green one is crying out for a white pickguard and truss rod cover.

In this price bracket, the pickups will almost certainly be of the stud pole and underslung ceramic bar magnet persuasion. The 2-band active EQ will be a simple PCB and block connectors affair. (Nothing intrinsically wrong about either of these features. On the other hand, they might explain the need to roll down the treble on your amplifier.) Give the instrument a fair crack in standard spec before investigating possible modifications or upgrades.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

For the money, even I’m tempted - and 34” scale is my bread and butter.

But I’ve tried a few Ibanez cheaper models and they have never disappointed..

Can't wait for the strings to bed in a bit.  Don't like toppy sounding new strings on a bass.

Look like D'addario to me - ball end colours.

Roll up. Roll up. Uncle Bridge's bespoke "reliced" bass guitar strings. Nice and round or flat. Get 'em while they're pipin' 'ot!

Comes with authentic ground in sweat for that “I’ve worked ‘ard on me bass playing” look.

    Guaranteed NEVER slapped.
