What to buy?!.....

I'm looking for a new amp, small enough for home use but big enough to jam with.

I'd kind of settled on a Blackstar HT5 but couldn't help notice the love for the Katana 50 so went to my LGS for a recce and there they said I should also consider the Blackstar ID:30. I know I need to play them and sound is subjective but i'd appreciate any input from you guys if you've used or own any of these or can think of anything else I must have a look at.

My answer would generally always be an used fender hot rod DeVille 40w for the cheaper end of things

Well the Blackstar's are both around the £300 mark, wouldn't want to go much beyond that.

Have a look at something like a Vox AV30 or 60.  Not necessarily better but worth trying at that budget.

Out of the options you mentioned I would go for the Katana. The Blackstar HT5 combo sounds small and you may struggle for headroom on the clean channel. I've no experience of the Blackstar ID stuff so can't comment on that.

I too am looking at something similar.

I seem to be drawn towards a used Fender Superchamp or used Vox AC10 should the budget allow.

A couple more to add to the mix! 

Starting to realise theres a hell a lot of options in the 2-400 price point!!

I'm in Exeter. Could look into posting as an option though as its not heavy, one of things I like about it
