NUD (New Ukulele Day)

So I've been doing a lot more workshops in recent weeks and we often find young people who want to play guitar but find it a bit overwhelming. The ukulele on the other hand is much easier to get to grips with and get a few chords going without much trouble, and so we've been starting with it. Many schools teach ukulele in lessons these days as well.

I thought I'd get myself an instrument to practice with at home and took a chance on this Chinese-made Ovation-inspired rosewood model. It's certainly a looker and has a nice tonal range.

I'm totally getting a sticker for it that says "my other guitar is a Jackson".

Does anyone else dabble with ukulele?

    Yes, when I’m cleaning windows.

    ;)

Actually, that’s a banjolele and I’ve dabbled there often.

I quite fancy a banjolele but I need to take a purchasing break I think. Hell, if it has strings and frets it's on my wishlist somewhere.

Bajoleles are surprisingly loud... really quite piercing!
