Genuinely was shocked to hear this, didn't know he was ill. Saw him live three times in recent years, bloody hilarious, my partner almost had a seizure she was laughing so much. Note some media quotes have referred to his death with that awful mealy-mouthed term 'passing', can't help think he would have said, "I've not passed like some ship in the night, I've fucking died!" - RIP

I guess he had a bit, although it's been suggested it was a recent illness - just heard someone on R4 refer to brain cancer  .

I saw him at a recording of I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue in Liverpool a couple of years ago. He was very funny - a terrible loss - at a ridiculously young age. RIP.

I wondered why he hadn't been on the News Quiz recently.
He was so sharp with a type of humour that could be slightly surreal but not in a pretentious way.
He really made the News Quiz. I'll miss his communist rants.

That programme comes and goes throughout the year. Late autumn is one of its "off" periods.

On the other hand, Hardy did not appear in the late 2018 series of I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue.
