Visiting tom cat...

What's Hot

edited February 2019 in Off Topic
We have 2 cats and over the last couple of months have had a roaming young tom cat visit, he's a sweet playful little chap, we shewed him away for a while but he was persistent and when it turned bitterly cold we felt sorry for him and let him sleep in and have some food. We discovered that he belongs to someone a couple of streets away but they work all day and don't have a cat flap so he's kicked out during the day and if not home in time at night has to stay out. We've tried to take him back a couple of times but he returns.

He is visiting less as the weather warms but pops in every few days to say hello and have a tickle and then goes on his way.

I love animals, more than people really...we also feed the 5 Muntjac Deer at the end of the garden, every day twice a day, but they're not coming in! And shovel tons of bird food into the feeders, and leave plates of food for the hedgehogs.

we've been feeding a feral tom for just over a year now. He's the friendliest cat ever, which is just as well cos he's unneutured and build like a brick shit house. He is seriously thick though, took him a year to work out the cat flap, despite seeing ours go in and out all the time.

One of next door’s cats (they have three) has decided that it prefers to live with us.  Right now it’s asleep in the tortoise’s vivarium.

    Fundamental error.

When their eyes are open, that means they are not asleep.

I've never come across a "vivarium" beforehand, what a fantastic word.

Black cats don’t photograph well when they’re asleep - they look shapeless.  She’s probably disappeared into one of many hiding places now so that she doesn’t get put out (not that we would because we’re daft).  She’ll reappear early tomorrow morning (or in the middle of the night if I’m unlucky) when she’ll jump on me and meow to let me know that she wants to be fed then go out.  She’s got us well trained.

  • We have a fucktard of a cat that comes into our garage at night pisses everywhere and beats up my little tortie whilst her moron brother just sits and watches

Gonna have to get one of those hopeless microchip activated cat flaps

That wee ginger cat looks like a total keeper

Pepper him with buckshot. That'll stop him scrounging off you.

  • @Travisthedog Those microchip catflaps aren't useless. We had a regular visitor to our conservatory and the bugger pissed everywhere and ate our cats' food. I fitted the catflap and set it so that only our cats could use it.

Problem solved. You only have to change the batteries every six months.

yeah, some cats can be a pest, we lost one of ours in the autumn when she was attacked and badly beat up by a neighbours tom.

Cats do this. They suss out where a plan B will be if they get indifferent treatment (or a lesser level than they have been come accustomed to) or for a chnage of life. Women also do this...

This one adopted me about five years ago and always got in the way when I was building Theremin PCBs.

He never minded me building fx pedals, I even began to wonder if he knew what Theremins sound like!

  • Yeah... I bought one of those a few years ago.
Imagine my disappointment when I got it home... opened the case and there was a bloody Gibson J45 in it... and no sign of a cat.
