I'm quite torn now. I want Gibson to do well but I'd also like to see them release nothing but the firebird x for the next 5 years just to see this guy's next video....

I’d say that JC is the man too... he is the saviour of Gibson...

Wait, Jeremy Corbyn has taken over Gibson?

I always had him down as a Shergold man.

So has anyone played these new era Gibbos yet?  When are they in the shops?  Sounds like they are just consolidating the lines and stamping out minor finish flaws

Peach have the 60th anniversary R9s on preorder but not seen any sign of the 2019 version 2 USA line yet.

And that guy selling his Les Paul...highly premature methinks.

  • I’ve followed the Guitar Geek on YouTube for some time and noticed that he’s changed from a genuine sort of of guy to the sort of person you suspect of being paid to promote stuff. They seem to be all over YouTube these days, I particularly like the ones that try to convince people that a £250 Harley Benton is as good as a USA built PRS. I’ll not be selling any of my Gibson guitars and replacing them with new ones just because they have a new chief executive, I’m quite happy with the ones I’ve got .The new guitars are still being built in the same factory’s by the same personal using the same materials as the old ones, any significant  changes will take ages.

In the Andertons NAMM video, they seemed to be under the impression the 2019 line that's currently in shops that was announced in September will carry on for a few more months  - I assume to finish off orders etc until the new stuff is ready. The new line should be appearing later in the year, summerish.

  • Maybe with all the hype for these new ones it will mean the current stock may get sold off at a good reduction? Personally theirs still things which are not vintage correct with these new ones, Theirs plenty of builders out there who build better replicas for less (ooops i just said the naughty word). Or buy an older reissue and send it off to someone to make it more vintage accurate.
