The Boss OD-1 is the 14 pin chip version
If you are unfamiliar with these the 14 pin chip versions generally seem to command higher prices than the 8 pin chip versions and having owned numerous 8 pin chip versions and 14 pin chip versions I much prefer the 14 pin chip ones.
The 8 pin chip versions sound ok at at low volume but as soon as the amp volume gets turned up the 8 pin version starts sounding thin and getting harsh in the treble and it cannot be dialled out. 
The 14 pin version sounds way better in general and does not have the problem of harshness associated with turning up the amp volume.
The switch is the momentary type so it only lights up when pressed and the light does not stay on when the pedal is active when the pedal is active.
This pedal is ACA so if using a mains power supply it needs 12 volts. it will run on a 9 volt battery.
