Letting go of a few guitars to raise some cash for a business and this is the last one to go. I know I'm going to regret this one but here goes....

This is genuinely a lovely guitar. Owned previously by some forum members here this is a Les Paul Special from one of Gibson's golden years.

As guitars go this is the best sounding guitar i have ever played, Unplugged its acoustically resonant and incredibly light. P90 pickups are original to the guitar and sound excellent, The closest I have ever heard to a PAF. In fact I believe this guitar was played alongside a well known burst a few years back and more than held it's own. This isn't an easy one to let go, I have been chasing that Late 50's PAF tone for a while now and this guitar nailed it for me.

The guitar has been professionally refinished by a forum member and previous owner, It's done so well you simply wouldn't know unless told. It has also had a small repair around the toggle switch which is very common with this model and changed caps and pots. The guitar isn't a museum piece but it's one for the players with the best feeling neck on any Gibson I've played.

Main changes I am aware of:
-Guitar has been professionally refinished by a forum member here and it's previous owner
-The pots and caps have been changed
-Small repair around the selector switch (common on this model)
-Has been re-fretted at some point & potentially changed nut
-Serial number is not original to the guitar

Their are no other breaks or repairs that i am aware of and all other parts are original.

I'm based In Bristol and happy to meet within a reasonable distance but I'm afraid i will not ship the guitar due to it's value. Hopefully anyone who has played or seen this guitar in person will highlight what a great guitar this is. I'm trying to price it as fairly as I can. It's no case queen but as a player it is up there with the best. Don't be fooled, these may have been student guitars but they are now one of the best sounding guitars money can buy.

Price I'm looking for is £5000. This is for sale on other sites and will be added to more soon but would rather It stay within the forum.

If Alex doesn't mind, i'll jump in here. This was previously mine, it came to me with a silver/gold poly finish, the original finish had been lost many years ago. I stripped it back to bare wood, fully expecting to find a headstock break at least but there was nothing, simply a previous (bonehead) owner wanted it a different colour. Then I refinished it in period correct TV Yellow.

Its a EXCEPTIONAL guitar, the neck is sublime and it has gone head to head with a notable 'Burst and easily held it's own, the P90's are absolute magic in this guitar. I'd dearly love it back but I have recently sold off all my vintage guitars bar one to fund my new workshop build.

    eh?

I dare say it was painted over so Neil wouldn’t have any idea what it was, just guessing.
