New Bass Day

I took it as a Part-X on my Marleaux.

Sounds excellent but I'm not sure it's a keeper yet as it's a bit heavy.
Seller got the weight wrong by about half a pound which pushes it into my uncomfortable bracket.

However I've got a set of Ultralite tuners somewhere that should shave off 0.35 of a pound and that might make it ok and sort the balance out.

It's beautifully set up and now has TI flats on it. With a bit of luck I'll find the Hipshots before the weekend and then I'll rehearse with it on Saturday to see how I get on with it.

If I keep it the bright white 'plate will have to go. Black or a dark tort I think.

Black/white/black would go with the Seventies style headstock decal.

4-ply brown tort suits any Fender era.

Anodised gold would look lovely but anachronistic.

Fender definitely made a gold sparkle 'guard for Jazz Bass. I don't know whether they ever bothered for the Precision.
    Be seeing you.

Not a fan of the anodised plates. They feel odd to me!

I like the big logo - it's an American Special from the run they did from 2011 for a couple of years.

In that case, BWB would have been stock.

Third party 4-ply tortoiseshell would be my choice. Fender's own torty looks too red.

The Musicradar review from the time shows their review model as WBW.

Got any links to a nice dark tort? Even if the Fender one was dark enough, I am not paying £70 for it!
