I sometimes liked him, sometimes didn't but he could be achingly funny:

On the list of people if you'd told me he died ten years ago I wouldn't have questioned it as he'd disappeared so much from public.
Just of his time and got very, very left behind although blessed with great comic timing. I have a memory of him on the Des O'Connor show doing a long joke which I thought was hilarious at the time and sent himself up but otherwise ( from my memories of him) he tended to have soft or rather tired targets for his humour. I'm sure the life he lead must have been hard work and scarey at times and many people loved him. I know I'm damming with faint praise but RIP Freddie.

I thought he was hilarious as Mick Jagger, Tarzan and, er, Hitler in the Who Do You Do days... but that was 1974 and I was 10.  He was very much of his time.  Strange that he remained well known without really doing anything very much for all those years subsequently.  That's showbusiness, I suppose.

He seems to have had a difficult life.  RIP.

I still laugh at those early clips of his Mack Jagger routine! He became somewhat out of place in the PC world that we all live in now. He seemed a broken man after those accusations, but he was a great entertainer of his time. RIP Freddie

I saw him  about 30 years ago - In stitches from beginning to end of the show

M Parkinson said he would never rehearse interviews, as such you never knew what he was going to do

Recall him on ITV - An audience with - Throwing maggots at the stars in the crowd

    RIP Freddie

A genuinely funny comedian. When he laughed it was infectious and I always looked forward to seeing him on the telly as a kid. Other than Peter Kay and Frank Skinner I don't find any of today's comedians funny at all, so it was a shame he disappeared off the map as he would have easily sold out theatres across the land. RIP Freddie.

V very funny man with a troubled personal life. He had that gift that would have a whole theatre laughing in a seemingly effortless way. I reality many years of rejection and hard slog through the working mens clubs was the honing of a craft. Sad to hear is youngest daughter won't be sad at his demise.

Rest peacefully Freddie, the struggle is ended.
