What's the format of these events? And what standard of playing is expected? - I've only been playing seriously a few months.
    If lit's like Tim's previous events, not a problem. It's a geek-in - play or don't play, your choice.
Imagine something sharp and witty here ......

    ^ this

It's a long time since I did a Gearfest/Gearjam (as they came to be known) but the emphasis is on the stuff, seeing hearing about and the opportunity to have a go on other people's stuff.

The opportunity to perform for or with the group is there too.
    Red ones are better.

Sounds interesting, would love to compare my J-35 to other acoustics, depending when, obviously.
I've have my advanced jumbo there (also forward bracing but rosewood & long scale) so if someone also brings a J45 that'd be fun.

    I have a "J45 Vintage" and @noisepolluter has a regular J45 iirc

a mix of show-and-tell about and have-a-go on each others gear as well as some playing.

I just wanted to make sure the above is clear - I do not envisage this being predominantly a performance gathering.

When we did this in the past, some folk wanted to/were happy to also entertain the troops, and did a number or 2 solo. If you fancy doing something with a chum, that’s obviously cool too, but there’s no list of material or stylistic theme or running order or <all that stuff>

Come, meet, chat, try each others acoustic stuff.

I’d be up for this, depending on date. I’ve got a couple of decent acoustics and could play and sing, if you don’t mind some oafish versions of Neil Young and David Bowie songs, with harmonica too if you’re up for some added caterwauling.  :)

When you put it like that, I probably do mind, since you asked...
An oafish original would be okay :)

Be careful, a banjo or sax player might be reading this thread and show up unannounced.

    Anyone thinking about coming along?

There were some fantastic acoustic stylings in Bristol yesterday - anyone fancy coming to fondle someone else's frets, bring their fancy acoustic to show off to others or playing with or for a an enthusiastic and supportive yet small audience? :-)

I'd be up for it. I ran one years ago for UK members of the Acoustic Guitar Forum. It was so successful they've now demolished the pub. Takes me just an hour to get to Swindon and 45 mins to get back :-). Home of the amazing Andy Partridge.
