First Stage done, the body has primer down and this has been rubbed down with 800 grit wet and dry

next stage is to get some 1200 - 1500 and get really smooth ready for the gloss black coat. After that i'm going to be using various shades of Alclad II Lacquer to get a metallic finish. I'm going to use an airbrush and also add some variations to create a riveted aluminium skinned effect. A clear scratch plate is on the way which I can finish on the underside and also add some other 'details'

I've got a BK Miracle Man humbucker kicking about and a Lace Silver and Blue so these will get chucked in plus some new pots and knobs as well (i might make the knobs myself). I reckon the tuners will be a bag of s**t without even looking at them so will get some half decent Kluson types (still the best tuners I think)

Next step is to seal this on and then put a couple of panels in of different shades (duraluminum, Aluminium, White Aluminium) and shad in the panel lines and rivets. A rather funky badge or two has turned up so will get these settled in along with getting scratch plate started (this is clear so will have to work on reverse)

Couple of Duraluminium panels blown in with a few rivets for good measure and Mrs Strangelove is now living behind the clear scratchplate. I'll clear gloss the underside before any paint goes near to stop anything creeping in front of her or reacting with the waterslide. A bit more paintwork on the underside for good measure, stick the Navy bird on the top, seal her in and i'll start to look at the neck and headstock, bit slow at the moment with a 5 week old baby in the the house

well the body is all done apart from a layer of final gloss sealant to protect the decals, not happy with the small cockup on the scratch plate where a silver band was accidently masked off but hey ho.

got some retro radio style knobs from the states on the way over plus some klusons as the tuners will be horrible without even looking at them.

Attacking the neck and headstock next week, luckily I have a reverse headstocked strat so I can use that as a back to back template for marking the profile.

Love it! Looks really good. It's been a great many years since I used an airbrush. I feel inspired to go and find it. Unfortunately it is buried in the loft somewhere, and I really mean buried!
